With The Lion King, the fantastically successful Elton John became even more fantastically successful. His tuneful score, co-written with lyricist Tim Rice and adapted for the Broadway stage from the hit Disney animated film, spawned a handful of modern standards, including "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and "The Circle of Life." With the wonderful Heather Headley leading the ensemble, the cast album takes off in a rousing flurry of sweeping anthems and affecting ballads. October 22, 2007: I saw the actual broadway show and the music was absolutely amazing. The music on the soundtrack reminds me of when I saw the actual show with great music and lyrics.
