Legendary: The Steel Guitar Tribute to Eric Clapton twists country, bluegrass, and slidin' lap steel around some of Eric "Slowhand" Clapton's best-known songs. Among those included are "After Midnight," "I Shot the Sheriff," and "Wonderful Tonight," all ably performed by progressive bluegrass festival favorites Rollin' in the Hay with guest steel guitarist Rick Byrd. The songs have little to do with Slowhand himself, but Clapton's songwriting provides an interesting enough jumping-off point for these interpretations. Although casual fans looking for faithful renditions of Clapton's best-loved works won't find them here, those who enjoy loose and singing lap steel may be entertained. Zac Johnson, All Music Guide
