Editorial Reviews

The Legend of 1900 marks the first collaboration between director Giuseppe Tornatore and legendary film composer Ennio Morricone since 1989's critically adored Cinema Paradiso, and the results are worth the wait. The film concerns a virtuoso pianist, so the opportunities for stunning musical performances are plentiful; Morricone's score is embellished by pieces from ragtime legends Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton, as well as an original rock ballad with lyrics written and sung by Roger Waters and guitar work from Eddie Van Halen. August 19, 2003: I do agree with the opinion of down stairs. ''1900'' was much better than the movie which product in Hollywood. I have watched it so many times. I never feel boring. Whatever the music, the actor , or the story. Very good diaglouge and monolog, they were worth to think... They have the far-reaching meaning. Especially, I think the 1900 express his emotion not only by his music, we also can find something in Tim's eyes. I can not use limited words to describe my infinite feeling. At last I wanna repeat it was a very good movie.

March 08, 2003: Hollywood!! after you see this movie you feel like you wanna go to hollywood and destroy everything there. they have not idea about how a movie should be. it's just a story: no good guy agaist bad guy, no goal to reach, no problem to solve, no special effect, just the best piano player in the world living on a boat: his mind, his philosophy, his love and music. and the atmosphere is like reading the most sweet and gentle poem. The touch of Tornatore is very kind. The story is so rich of ideas and emotions that this is for sure a movie that will teach you a lot about live. Unfortunately the america version is only 2 hours long, instead of the 3 and an half hours italian version. Thanks hoolywood one more time....to be so scared of great foreign movies.
