Editorial Reviews

Hal Ketchum's The Hits collection covers the singer/songwriter's most commercially productive period on the country charts in the early '90s. These tunes didn't fit in with the new traditionalist revival of the period. At times, Ketchum's laid-back, soft rock material sounds as if it could have been recorded by James Taylor or Kenny Loggins. Among the ten hits are "Sure Love," "Hearts Are Gonna Roll," and his first number one hit, "Small Town Saturday Night." Ketchum also had a minor hit with a version of "Five O'Clock World," originally recorded by the Vogues in 1965. Les Campbell, All Music Guide

March 16, 2009: Overall, a good compilation of Hal Ketchum's biggest songs. The highlights of the disc are "Small Town Saturday Night", "Past The Point Of Rescue", "Sure Love", and "Stay Forever." However, I would've rather they added Hal's version of Todd Rundgrens' "I Saw The Light", along with his chart hits "Tonight We Just Might Fall In Love Again", and "She Is", instead of the four filler tracks that were included. All in all, though, a good representation of one the more underrated acts in Country music's recent past.
