About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

A wildly inconsistent but often entertaining collection, the soundtrack to the Sex Pistols' pseudo-documentary contains great music, whacked-out novelties, and flat-out tripe in approximately equal proportions. Some formative recordings are included -- mostly covers like "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone," plus a demo of "Anarchy in the U.K." that somehow manages to top the version on Never Mind the Bollocks in terms of raw rage and sheer power. "I Wanna Be Me" and a veiled chronicle of the band's breakup, "Silly Thing," are also necessary items. Devoted fans will enjoy "The Black Arabs"' disco medley of Pistols' hits, a French version of "Anarchy in the U.K." complete with accordion, two tracks sung by loony Edward Tudor-Pole (later of Tenpole Tudor), and Sid Vicious' awful but strangely appropriate reading of Frank Sinatra's "My Way." [EMI's 2007 remastered edition includes one bonus track, "Einmal War Belson Bortrefflich."] Steve Huey, All Music Guide

Like the album better than the Movieby JohnQ

May 02, 2009: Without the distraction of the movie, these cuts show off both the fun and the anger of the Punk movement very well. It really ought to be considered as a separate entity from the movie as each seems to project a very different feel from the other. Of the two, I prefer the album to the movie (though the movie does have its moments).

I Also Recommend: The Filth and the Fury.

July 24, 2004: The Ramones may have been the ones who created punk rock, but the sex pistols completely changes the sound. But if you want to hear the best of these punk pioneers, Buy Nevermind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols. Buy This after.
