About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Released as part of Columbia/Legacy's 2006 series The Great American Songbook -- which spotlighted the label's classic artists singing classic pop songs of the 20th century -- this collection contains 14 highlights from Frank Sinatra's classic recordings for Columbia in the '40s. These weren't necessarily Sinatra's biggest hits, but they are among the most recognizable songs in pop -- "Night and Day," "I've Got a Crush on You," "Embraceable You," "Autumn in New York," and "Begin the Beguine" among them -- and assembled together like this, they do make for a good listen, making this a good sampler for those who want a taste of Sinatra at his best but don't want to dig too deep.
