The Glory of Black Gospel, Vol. 4 is an 18-track compilation put out by a German label that is appropriately titled Black Gospel. The material is licensed from reissue label Charly, which means the majority of this was initially released on Vee-Jay. The 18 tracks include excellent selections by the Golden Gate Quartet, the Swan Silverstones, the Harmonizing Four, the Jubalaires, and the Caravans, along with the Platters' 1956 number one hit "My Prayer." Collectables' 2001 compilation series The Best of Vee-Jay Gospel contains much of this same material at a budget price. Les Campbell, All Music Guide
