About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Released just before his first album for the Gospo Centric label, The Definitive Collection is an overview that covers Dave Hollister's first four solo albums, and it also includes two of his spotlight roles with Blackstreet ("Before I Let You Go," "Falling in Love Again") and one with Force One Network ("Spirit [Does Anybody Care]," from the Boyz N the Hood soundtrack). There can't be a great deal of demand for this disc; Hollister has his followers, most of whom have been with him through 2003's Real Talk, and he placed only eight solo singles on the charts during this period. Nonetheless, this is a representative introduction to a singer who has unjustly remained in the margins. Most of the singles are featured here, along with several choice album cuts.
