Calling any album The Definitive Bluegrass Collection is a bold statement for any record label, especially so for CMH. Luckily for them, they've got the rights to the definitive versions of a lot of bluegrass standards, like the Osborne Brothers' "Rocky Top," "Are You Missing Me" by Jim & Jesse, and "I'm Using My Bible for a Roadmap" by Don Reno, all of which are featured on this two-disc set. However, it is a bit of a misnomer to call the album "definitive" without any recordings by Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, or Flatt & Scruggs (although Lester Flatt and Nashville Grass do appear on a couple of tracks). Nevertheless it is a solid collection of 30 great bluegrass songs, performed ably by a bunch of great artists. Zac Johnson, All Music Guide
