About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Can she pull it off? Maybe the question should be: Is there anything that Queen Latifah can’t do? Having exhibited her fine voice and high style in such film as the blockbuster Chicago and the underrated Living Out Loud, it comes as no surprise that Dana Owens, a.k.a. Queen Latifah, has produced an album of pop standards that establishes her as a full-fledged contemporary diva. Casting a wide net, Latifah digs into material previously associated with, among others, Bill Withers, the Mamas and Papas, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, James Moody, Barbara Lewis, Cannonball Adderley, and Dr. Buzzard and the Original Savannah Band, stamping her own personality on it all. She’s got the range, the swing, and the heart to bring a mesmerizing quality to even the most unlikely choices. No celebrity ego trip here --this girl can sang! William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

June 16, 2009: This is one of the best albums I have ever heard. Queen Latifah has a beautiful voice. You can really feel the soul in these songs. There was not a song on this album that I did not enjoy.

November 06, 2007: i just think that a person should stick with what brought them fame and not something that brings other ppl fame. i am sorry but i am just use to hearing her rap and maybe she is trying just trying something different but it is not her it just does not become her at all it is just like wearing someone elese shoes or clothes it does not fit and i am sorry to say but singing does not fit her at all.
