About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

As the years go by, The Cult become more traditional, which is a mixed blessing. At their best, the Cult can sound as powerful as any other hard rock outfit, but they have trouble coming up with enough decent riffs and songs to fill an album. The band sounds good on The Cult, but the songs aren't their strongest. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

March 15, 2004: The Cult's self titiled album from '94 shows a band that's stripped everything away then redifing themselvs. It shows that Ian and Billy worked very hard to change they're image and go with what they had. This is The CUlt as it's most intimate and raw.

October 25, 2002: The Cult drop this effort on a public that just didn't seem to care anymore in 1994... well too bad for the public, this disc is The Cult's strongest effort to date and their most original as well. The chemistry between Duffy's interesting and heavy sound and Astbury's leather lungs is near perfect throughout the whole disc. I would give the album five stars if I had not heard all the cuts that did not make the album, because many of the cuts are even stronger than the already awesome selection on the album. A must have. Key Cuts: "Coming Down", "Be Free", "Star", and "Emperor's New Horse"
