About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the group's attack was subtlety: it wasn't just an onslaught of guitar noise, it was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos. As Led Zeppelin proves, the group was capable of such multi-layered music from the start. Although the extended psychedelic blues of "Dazed and Confused," "You Shook Me," and "I Can't Quit You Baby" often gather the most attention, the remainder of the album is a better indication of what would come later. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" shifts from folky verses to pummeling choruses; "Good Times Bad Times" and "How Many More Times" have groovy, bluesy shuffles; "Your Time Is Gonna Come" is an anthemic hard rocker; "Black Mountain Side" is pure English folk; and "Communication Breakdown" is a frenzied rocker with a nearly punkish attack. Although the album isn't as varied as some of their later efforts, it nevertheless marked a significant turning point in the evolution of hard rock and heavy metal. March 19, 2009: Led Zeppelin's first album is definatly a sonic wall of blues and hard rock. Robert Plants constant wailing, Jimmy Pages sonic blues sound, JPG bass playing

and John Bonhams mega fast drum solos, makes this album a must have. The first track "Good Times Bad Times" which is a blues rock

song about a man who lost his woman to a brown-eyed man. Then, theres the acoustic epic "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" which is a instant classic. This whole

album from the first track to the last is an epic. The album is definatly one of the Led's best. The longest song on the album is "I Can't Quit You Baby"

which on the album was listed as 3:00 minutes long but is really 8:35 minutes long to fool radio stations to play it. You can tell that some..no most songs on the album

are about women, "Good Times Bad Times", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", "You Shook Me", "Your Time Is Gonna Come", "I Can't Quit You Baby", "How Many More Times".

This album was also very good for the time it came out. When the people still listening to rock 'n' roll and many still bought records. The cover is a interesting cover showing

the Hindenburg Zeppelin going down in flames. The cover thought is fine because the band was named after the blimp, very creative. This concludes my review of "Led Zeppelin"

one of Zeppelin's most creative and underrated albums. Whether its played in your car or in your house this album will always live on in rock lovers everywhere because this album

started the career on one of the best band's of all time. I have one more thing left to say if you ever go to record or CD store and see this album buy it you won't regret it EVER.

I Also Recommend: Almost Famous, Nevermind.

June 08, 2008: It's very rare that you find a band that figures out their perfect style of music for their first album. But Led Zeppelin is the epitome of this, and this album is a gem, with such classics as "Good Times Bad Times," "Communication Breakdown," and "Dazed and Confused," "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You," and my favorite track of the album "How Many More Times." I'd deffinately rank this in the top five of the greatest of albums of all time. If your just starting to become a Led Zeppelin fan and wondering what albums to get, look below.
