About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Celine Dion's first Collector's Series is just that -- a coveted jewel for die-hard fans. Coming just a year after 1999's greatest-hits-plus collection All the Way -- A Decade in Song, which combined seven new songs with nine previous hits, The Collector's Series Volume One is a more thorough compilation and a nice complement to the earlier set. Missing are All the Way's hits (including "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme from Titanic)" and "Beauty and the Beast"), but in their place are such selections as "Where Does My Heart Beat Now," Dion's American breakthrough hit; "Tell Him," the yearning ballad on which she and Barbra Streisand play dueling divas; "Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore," from her French-language album; and "The Prayer," her saintly duet with Andrea Bocelli. The new anthology also includes a few tracks that are available for the first time in the U.S. Dion capably goes flamenco on "Amar Haciendo El Amor," but as her Spanish version proves, Eric Carmen's syrupy soft-rocker "All By Myself" es muy mal in any language. Keeping with the international theme is the up-with-the-people ballad "The Power of the Dream," which she performed at the opening ceremony of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. The Collector's Series Volume One isn't for everybody, but it's essential listening for those whose Titanic hearts must go on. Bill Crandall, Barnes & Noble

December 10, 2004: at first i wasn't going to get this album because i thought it was just songs i've already heard.but there were some good suprises like the orginal verson of "if that's what it takes" in french "pour que tu m'aime encore". i started to really want to learn french at this time. i found that this song in french is almost completely different (word wise).the french title means "for that you love me again".it's even better when you know the english translation of the french verson.i bought all celine's french albums after this and i'm really glad i did.
