I always looked past Alanis during her early work and wasn't that into her music. Years later I heard a song that I just loved after it got to the first chorous. That song was called Crazy a cover of the original song sung by Seal. Since then I looked into her work and some of her songs on the collection are now my favorites. Especially her most current album Flavors of Entanglement is just fantastic. Her songs have a good beat and rhythm to it including some very thoughtful songwriting on her part. If you are starting out as a fan then to me you should get this collection first so you'll get an idea of some of the songs that are pretty good. Some of the songs that I really like and recommend on this album are thank you, everything, crazy, ironic, and hands clean. Hear this album out for yourself and see what song you might like. This is sort of off topic but she was just adorable in the film Dogma. All in all she is one hell of a songwriter and singer and I totally recommend this collection of memorable songs by the wonderful Alanis Morissette.
I Also Recommend: Flavors of Entanglement.

whether you're a die-hard alanis fan or just enjoy the songs you've heard on the radio, this is a great collection to have. alanis obviously put a lot of thought into the selection and sequencing of the songs, which makes the outcome much more fluid than if she were to just throw on all her hits. those hits are present--including "you oughta know," "thank you," and "everything." but also included are overlooked gems like "simple together," off her b-side album Feast on Scraps, and "eight easy steps," the rocking second single from So-Called Chaos. but what really makes this album worth it for alanis fans is the inclusion of all the songs she has written for soundtracks and special releases, including "Let's Do It "Let's Fall In Love"" from the De-Lovely soundtrack, "Mercy," the breath-taking foreign language track from the album The Prayer Cycle, and "Still," one of the best songs she has penned, which was on the Dogma soundtrack. while the thought of a greatest hits album is bittersweet because it may mean that alanis's best work is behind her, it's still a very impressive collection. highly recommended for casual and devout fans alike.
