About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

If you're among the countless listeners who swooned over the charismatic vocals on Il Divo's debut album, this follow-up arrives just in time to help make your holidays warm and cozy. Naturally, The Christmas Collection finds the photogenic four lending their pipes to traditional carols and seasonal favorites, rather than the love songs of their first outing, but there's still a seductive side to their singing -- with such robust, expressive voices, it's hard for them not to sound romantic. If songs like "White Christmas" bring out the tender and nostalgic side of Il Divo -- they croon their way through a charming arrangement that shifts to Spanish in the middle -- they also create a truly reverent mood on sacred hymns like Schubert's "Ave Maria" and Franck's "Panis Angelicus." Best of all is the opening minute of "O Come All Ye Faithful," where the orchestra remains silent while the four singers blend in perfect harmony on their own. New songs like "Rejoice" and "When a Child Is Born" add a contemporary touch to the program, but it's Il Divo's way with the classics that's sure to make their Christmas offering one of the season's most popular albums.
