Underoath stands at the heavy metal crossroads on Changing of the Times, a hardcore album that parallels classic arena rock. Though vocalist Dallas Taylor spits out dark lyrics of doom and gloom ("The romance has been dead for years/But I've been afraid to dig the grave" from "When the Sun Sleeps") with a screeching, screaming delivery, keyboardist Christopher Dudley's orchestral textures soften the blow with anthemic melodies and intriguing counterpoint. Dueling guitarists Tim McTague and Octavio Fernandez forsake solos for static rhythmic patterns, arpeggios, and linear melodies as drummer Aaron Gillespie affords lush multi-tracked backing vocals that cushion Taylor's histrionic tales of mayhem and distress with fond harmonies. "A Message for Adrienne" unearths a deep-rooted punk affinity via spoken word snippets that sound as if Johnny Rotten wandered into the studio. The title track, like many of the cuts, bemoans the loss of a relationship with manic angst. If Taylor ever opts to sing in full voice, Underoath has the ability to emerge from the underground with modern rock hitmaking potential. November 08, 2004: Before I went to a Coheed & Cambria concert I heard that they were playing with UnderOath. I decided to check them out. I watched 2 of their music videos. I liked that song "When the Sun Sleeps." I went to the concert and saw them perform. I really don't like the whole screaming thing but they were good. I got this CD and it is great. The band is just great. My favorite songs are "When the Sun Sleeps" and "814 Stops Today." The drummer, Aaron Gillespie and the lead singer Dallas Taylor do a great job with the drum beats and vocals. Keyboardest, Christopher Dudley does a great job to mix up the music and give it a cool beat. Just get this CD. You won't regret it.

March 14, 2004: The Changing Of Times is an awesome cd. Full of awesome screaming combined with exceptional singing from the drummer of Underoath. There is no reason why you wouldn't want to buy this cd! Christian Rock Fan or not and if you like hardcore/screamo/emo you will definetley enjoy the cd. I know it rocks my sound system 24/7. The lyrics are not gloom or dark. It just wakes the listener up from what ever dream your in!!!
