The Way America Likes itby Mr-McAwesome

September 29, 2009: Ok here's the deal. Im going to basically sum up all the reviews before me so here we go. These albums along with the four albums on volume 1 of this collection are the way all of america heard them back in the 1960's. Without the United States the Beatles wouldn' have been as huge. Its not americans fault that capitol "ruined" the Beatles albums. My parents for example grew up with the beatles and were unaware that there were differences between the two nations releases of these albums. Its not a matter of sound quality or what the beatles thought. Its about what the fans want. By the way these sound better than the beatles cd's that were available when this set was released. It sucks from the beatles point of view that america had different albums but without fans the beatles would've failed. Capitol knew what this country wanted and they delivered. And the American Rubber Soul is way freakin better than the british one.

I Also Recommend: Please Please Me, Rubber Soul [Remastered], The Beatles [Remastered], Abbey Road [Remastered], Let It Be [Remastered].

September 20, 2008: If you really want to see Beatles fans go at each other's throats, say that either this collection is great or really bad. No one is in the middle about this. Forgetting that the Beatles music was first brought to the USA in these particular mono and stereo mixes, the fans argue over whether these should be available or not. The mixes in England and the mixes in the USA sounded radically different up until around the release of SGT. PEPPER. The Beatles seem not to have had control over the sound on the American releases, but I would argue that, had the British sound prevailed in the United States, sales would not have matched what they actually were. The echo Americans added made the sound absolutely thunderous. Back in 1964, loudness was absolutely key to financial success in the recording industry/ If you're worried about the extreme stereo separation, don't. The mono mixes are here, right alongside the stereo mixes. The mono stuff is how most Americans heard the beatles for the first few years of American airplay(64-66 or so) and the full quality of that mono sound is rich indeed. I find the sound of the mono mixes in America was really quite good. It's an historical fact that America, the biggest beatles audience, bought THIS sound when the Beatles were current.
