About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Leave it to My Chemical Romance to call their second full live album -- and their second live release during The Black Parade era -- The Black Parade Is Dead! Unlike 2007's mini-album Live and Rare, which patched together performances from MCR's fall 2006/winter 2007 dates in the U.K. and Europe, The Black Parade Is Dead! is a lavish CD/DVD affair chronicling two performances: the CD captures the band's October 7, 2007, Mexico City date -- their last as the Black Parade -- while the DVD features video of that show as well as their October 24, 2007, date at Maxwell's in their home state of New Jersey. The Black Parade Is Dead!'s grandiosity is only fitting, considering how elaborate The Black Parade was, and also fittingly, the Mexico City show is a song-for-song performance of that album -- the only difference is "The Black Parade Is Dead," where Gerard Way announces to the audience that this is "the last performance of The Black Parade forever!" As on The Black Parade, the highlights happen when My Chemical Romance make these songs about death sound especially lively and theatrical. "Dead!" sounds especially searing, the satirical strut of "Teenagers" has an extra swagger, and the vaudevillian unnamed fan favorite closing track -- now known as "Blood" -- has an even more mischievous spring in its step, while hearing the audience sing back the words to "Welcome to the Black Parade" and "Mama" adds to their resonance. The Maxwell's date, which the band played to a very limited crowd of about 200 or so fans, draws just over half its set list from The Black Parade but also touches on Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge peaks like "Helena," "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)," and "Thank You for the Venom." Even if it seems thorough to the point of being overdone, The Black Parade Is Dead! is a completely appropriate -- and fan-pleasing -- final nail in The Black Parade's coffin. May 17, 2009: TBPID is a dvd/cd set that is amazing in all aspects. I am a huge MCR fan and I loved this so much. Gerard, Ray,Frank, Mikey, and Bob "Kill it off" by performing the last bits of TBP in Mexico City and New Jersey. The performances were amazing and it really felt as if you were there! I also loved how the performance at Maxwell's included "Untitled" or as some of us fans like to call it "Stay". It really gave us a look at whats ahead for our favorite band. I also enjoyed the live cd, and I listen to it all the time! TBPID will make my Nat'l MCR day even greater, as it will for other fans and I recomend that if you are a fan of MCR, or just like listening to MCR, go purchase TBPID along w/ LOTMS right now!!

February 01, 2009: I love this CD/DVD extremely. I bought it the SECOND it came out. Gerard, Frank, Mikey, Ray, and Bob couldn't have done any better. I've watched/listened to this an enfinity amount of times. Their performances blew me away. I love all of the songs. They are so amazing. The performance of The End was very well done. I have no bad reviews or comments for this CD/DVD combo. My absolute favorite performance is Mama. Gerard Way amazes me with his talent. So do the rest of the band members. My friends get annoyed at me when I go on and on about how good this is. But can you blame me? IT'S AMAZING. There are not enough words to describe how beautiful The Black Parade Is Dead! is. This is the PERFECT way to kill off The Black Parade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love MCR with ALL my heart. They are the best band ever. I got all of my friends hooked on them. I get picked on for listening to them and I don't care at all. I stand up for MCR whenever someone says something bad about them. They're songs are so emotional. I promote MCR extremely. I listen to all of their CDs EVERYDAY. Gerard, Frank, Mikey, Ray, and Bob are my heroes. No one else. They're music is the ONLY music that actually meant something to me. If you haven't listened to or watched The Black Parade Is Dead! do it NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never regret getting hooked on My Chemical Romance. And I never will regret. I own all of they're songs and videos on itunes. I have 6 MCR shirts and 2 pins. Plus a ton of other merch including Gerards Day Of The Dead Mask. I LOVE THIS CD BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
