About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Bonnie Raitt has been perfecting her blues-inflected rock for the better part of three decades, but it took some time for the singer-guitarist to hit the mainstream. This nicely paced 18-song collection does a pretty complete job of covering the period since her breakthrough, drawing from all six of Raitt's Capitol label releases, from strutting pop hits like "Thing Called Love" to more pensive ballads such as "I Can't Make You Love Me." The disc delivers all of Raitt's chart hits, as well as a passel of lesser-known, but equally compelling tunes. Fans who missed, say, the sensually slurry "Gnawin' on It" or the rending "Hear Me Lord" the first time around will be glad to have another shot at soaking up their pleasures. Packaged with a detailed booklet featuring song-by-song liner notes by Raitt herself, this is an ideal compendium of all the elements that make her such a strong thread in rock's tapestry. David Sprague, Barnes & Noble

November 02, 2003: Its nice to have all these great songs finally on one cd from the Capitol Years. Every one of these songs deserve to be on this, I wish she would put out a huge box set as a Barnes reviewer nicely put it. I'm sure the record companies could dig up all kinds of gems with so many recordings under her belt, not to mention all the recordings she done with so many in the musical world. Surely Warner Bros.(Bonnie's old label would work with her). She's also done so many live shows as well, surely there is a treasure chest full of great takes on songs. But for now this classic CD collection of some of Bonnie's best will more than do. Bonnie keeps on pushing herself and even though music has turned ugly on itself, the likes of Bonnie Raitt will forge on and keep those that love this kind of music chugging along. This belongs in everyones collection, excellent all the way through!
