About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Punk rawkers AFI exude another powerful disposition on their fifth album, The Art of Drowning. Issued on Dexter Holland's Nitro Records, AFI's quick and haughty, spiraling guitar riffs and crashing percussion make for another mishmash for single-fisted anthems for punk revivalists and enigmatic pop kids raging against the machine. Nothing short of Pennywise, D Generation, and Powerman 5000, AFI is rowdy with their old-school-inspired rants like "Ever and a Day" and "Of Greetings and Goodbyes." Frontman Davey Havok casts a rough demeanor, but certainly not anything intimidating because punk rock became friendly after the war of early-'90s grunge. The snarl and sweat are not as fashionable as it once was, but the attitude remains the same. MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

The Best Cd Everby Anonymous

January 29, 2006: This is by far the best afi cd they have ever put out. Being the fifth cd that afi had put out they were definitely in their prime when they wrote classic afi songs like Days of The Phoenix, Lost Souls, and The Despair Faction. The upbeat, hardcore melodies of this cd on songs such as Sacrifice Theory and Catch a Hot One are sure to pleases all punk fans. On this cd however you also get to see a more emotional side to the band on songs like Six To Eight and Morningstar. All in all if you want the greatest cd ever then look no further.

OMG! AFI is the best band ever!!!!by Anonymous

September 30, 2004: When I first listened to this CD, I was skeptical, but now I know why AFI is the best band ever: this CD. Days Of The Phoenix and Catch A Hot One are two of my favorite songs of all time!! Buy this CD today, you won't regret it. AFI HAS MORE THAN JUST ONE GOOD SONG!
