About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Once easy to dismiss as Eight Inch Nails, Filter has -- thanks to the musical and emotional maturation of leader Richard Patrick -- morphed into a full-spectrum rock juggernaut that's capable of getting a reaction even without volume levels in the red. The Amalgamut does push that pain-threshold envelope now and again -- both "You Walk Away" and "American Cliché" spew forth corrosive bile aplenty -- but there's more contemplation and even (gasp!) mellow moods to be had here. That sonic tranquility isn't accompanied by a brighter frame of mind, however. Far from it, as borne out by the agonized "The Missing" and the bleak "The Only Way (Is the Wrong Way)," both of which convey the dull ache of isolation without resorting to rubber-room outbursts. The Amalgamut may take a little longer to get its message across than Filter's previous outings, but given the chance, it offers proof positive that there can be better living without technology. February 25, 2003: I have been a huge Filter fan for many years now and I think that this album is by far their best. It's got everything a great album should have, with that edge that Filter brings to all of their songs. Great work, Rich!

February 23, 2003: Ever since I downloaded the first song off of this CD, I've been in love with it! I play it every day, and I bet my friends at work are getting sick of hearing it every day. My ONLY complaint is that there is only 12 songs! What the heck? I want MORE! MORE MORE MORE! This CD kicks booty. If I could afford it, I would actually buy it!
