This two-fer from Acadia features a pair of out of print Asleep at the Wheel LPs, Texas Gold and Wheelin' and Dealin', both originally issued on Capitol in 1975 and 1976. These albums highlight the band's mixture of originals and classic Western swing, jazz, and honky tonk material, not to mention the unique baritone vocals of frontman Ray Benson. Alongside the Top Ten country hit "The Letter That Johnny Walker Read," the selection of cover versions is first-rate: Amos Milburn's "Let Me Go Home, Whiskey," Doug and Rusty Kershaw's "Cajun Stripper," Percy Mayfield's "Lost Mind," and heated versions of "Route 66" and "Trouble in Mind."
