This peaceful Asian-flavored album mixes the soaring sounds of Dean Evenson's silvery flute with the flourishes and twangs of the guqin, a seven-string Chinese zither. Professor Li Xiangting from the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music is the world authority on the guqin and one of the few masters who improvises on the instrument. The evocative tracks on TAO OF HEALING are relatively free from set rhythms and melodic development. Evenson and Li play off each other's phrases with melodic, echoed overlappings that fit agreeably with the cadence of an easy, relaxed breath (perhaps the effect of the added Earth Resonance Frequency of 7.8 hertz). Keyboard wizardry, stylish harmonic guitar effects by Scott Huckabay, and percussion accents by Sarah Hall give the album all the atmosphere needed to make your space a pleasure dome. This lovely music is equally suitable for meditation, massage, yoga, Tai Chi, or just blissing out. Carol Wright, Barnes & Noble
