About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Less brutal than their two previous albums, the Scorpions' Taken by Force is nonetheless an underappreciated treat. Sure, there are some weak cuts, but there are plenty of strong ones to make up for it. Among the highlights of the disc are the energetic anthem "Steamrock Fever," and the growling song of androgyny "He's a Woman, She's a Man." The highlight of the disc, though, is "We'll Burn the Sky." This one is lyrically quite similar to the Blue Oyster Cult classic "Don't Fear the Reaper," but the music is a wonderfully building anthemic ballad. It is arguably one of the finest songs the Scorpions have ever done. [This version includes two bonus tracks, "Suspender Love" and "Polar Nights."] Gary Hill, All Music Guide

Scorpions Rule!by Chappa_Larcha

October 18, 2008: An amazing album indeed! The dark sounding "Steamrock Fever" starts it. Uli wrote one of the best early Scorpions tunes in "Sails Of Charon" with a hugely influential solo that must be heard! Full of fast diminished runs! "He's A Wonam, She's A Man" contains a proto trash metal riff! One of my favorites is the haunting "The Riot Of Your Time" and the rebellious rocker "I've Got To Be Free"!

March 17, 2003: Have this on old LP. Loved all songs, Ulrich's guitar carves.
