In 1977, Kaempfert realized a long-standing dream and recorded an album of swing standards, produced by Decca Records head honcho Milt Gabler. Unfortunately, that album was never released in the United States, leaving an incomplete picture of the European bandleader. This two-disc set combines that unreleased material with several big-band-styled bonus tracks for an anthology that shows a much more swinging side to Kaempfert's music. Nice takes on "One O'Clock Jump," "Woodchopper's Ball," "Sermonette," "Caravan," and "Stompin' at the Savoy," plus sparkling transfers, make this a latter-day big-band album well worth a listen or two.
