Sunshine Arabia 2003 is subtitled "15 Hip Hop Hits," but this is definitely not the hip-hop of North America and Europe; it's an Arabic strain that sounds very little like its counterparts. On the surface, this sounds like much modern Arabic dance-pop, except instead of the plodding 4/4 beat that plagues most dance albums they add more interesting rhythms (not quite hip-hop, though, in actuality). The tunes are all sung; there is nothing that sounds like rapping in the conventional sense. There are a couple tracks that are a bit stiff rhythmically, but this is better than much of the dance music coming out of the Middle East. Sean Westergaard, All Music Guide
