Sunset Boulevard [Original Los Angeles Cast]by Anonymous

October 03, 2005: I have always been a big Andrew Lloyd Webber fan, ever since I heard the original broadway cast recording of "Phantom." I have never had the opportunity to see "Sunset," as it debuted in the 80's, which is really a shame. But i stumbled across the soundtrack at the library one day, and rented it out. The music is so intense! Captivating and spine-tingling from beginning to end, i had to listen to the entire thing in ONE sitting! Glenn Close (who KNEW she could sing!?) was perfect for the role of Norma Desmond- she had that commanding, domineering persona DOWN COLD! Some of the best pieces are when she's just ranting and raving (The Lady's Paying, The Final Shot)!!! But the very best piece of the entire score is the title- "Sunset Boulevard." It's so fast-paced and intense, with such a catchy melody, that i had to buy the piano music! Overall, 5 stars!!! BUY THIS CD!!!

August 29, 2005: If you want to hear a Broadway edition of an Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical at its worst, then this is the cast album you should get. Glenn Close just doesn't have the voice or the looks to play the role, but to add insult to injury, there is foul language sprinkled in this album makes it VERY sickening to listen too. Only New York can take the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and make it unfit for decent people to listen to and appreciate!!!! Actually this should get ZERO(0)STAR RATING!!!
