September 26, 2009: On STILL ALIVE AND WELL, Johnny Winter made a strong comeback after years of heroin addiction. In fact, this is his best album ever. It features a mix of great originals and cover songs that Winter makes his own, including "Silver Train" and "All Tore Down." The title song is a tale of survival against the odds that served notice that Winter hadn't lost it or died like many of his late 60s/early 70s peers (e.g. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison) did. Overall, this CD shows a man who's been to the bottom and made it back, with the intention of continuing to get better.

March 08, 2008: Just us TEXANS??? Man oh man, the best JDW Rock And Roll Studio Album with bonus tracks originally from Little Richard and Bob Dylan. Sometimes I think it's like the Harley slogan: "If I have to explain it, you won't understand!" (well, maybe I got the quote a little bent, but you get it if you've read this far!)
