On STILL ALIVE AND WELL, Johnny Winter made a strong comeback after years of heroin addiction. In fact, this is his best album ever. It features a mix of great originals and cover songs that Winter makes his own, including "Silver Train" and "All Tore Down." The title song is a tale of survival against the odds that served notice that Winter hadn't lost it or died like many of his late 60s/early 70s peers (e.g. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison) did. Overall, this CD shows a man who's been to the bottom and made it back, with the intention of continuing to get better.
I Also Recommend: Johnny Winter And, Second Winter [Legacy Edition], The Johnny Winter Anthology, Live Johnny Winter And.

Just us TEXANS??? Man oh man, the best JDW Rock And Roll Studio Album with bonus tracks originally from Little Richard and Bob Dylan. Sometimes I think it's like the Harley slogan: "If I have to explain it, you won't understand!" (well, maybe I got the quote a little bent, but you get it if you've read this far!)
