The sixth installment in the gargantuan Star Funk series issued by Unidisc pretty much follows the same form as the others: long-lost disco, post-disco/pre-house boogie classics, and assorted left-field R&B tunes. After a lively cut by Italo disco producer Gino Soccio, the disc makes its way through some midtempo R&B from Geraldine Hunt and Touche, with a stop in new wave territory with Little Tony Marsh's "Video Burnout." But perhaps the most well-known track here is Visual's "The Music's Got Me," which was a staple anthem in many of the most influential dance clubs of the past three decades. Like most entries in the Star Funk series, the majority of these tracks may not appeal to anyone but die-hard fans. But for those looking to go beyond just the commercial hits and dig deeper into these particular styles, the Star Funk series is an excellent map for locating a treasure trove of goodies.
