Their 2000 debut, No Name Face, went double-platinum, partly on the strength of the giant radio single "Hanging by a Moment." Now hear Jason Wade and Co.'s follow-up, featuring the new single "Spin" and produced by No Name knob-twiddler Ron Aniello. The disc's title, Stanley Climbfall, arose from a pun on a new song called "Stand, Climb, Fall." "Everyone has their ups and downs," Wade told Billboard. "So after a lot of wordplay...'Stand, Climb, Fall' was transformed into an everyday character named 'Stanley Climbfall,' who goes through those kinds of changes." The limited-edition version includes two bonus tracks: "How Long" and "Sky Is Falling."

In lieu of 2002's skate-metal and earnest AOR grunge, on follow-up album Stanley Climbfall Lifehouse are more at ease than most with Scott Weiland's swampmonster vocals and power-crunched guitar riffs. The band also knows how to dig a big chorus out of its thick dynamics when called for, a useful tactic reminiscent of Silverchair's first album and the big-gestured rock of Creed and John Cougar Mellencamp.
