    A knockoff of both High School Musical and Camp Rock, Nickelodeon's Spectacular! concerns the adventures of a high-school choir fronted by a rock singer, thereby offering plenty of opportunities for hijinks, romance, and good times, all scored to blaring power pop. Musically, this does play like a synthesis of Disney's two tween flicks, channeling the theatricality of HSM into the pop songs of Camp Rock. There are bound to be some enthusiastic kids at home who take to Spectacular! and will want a souvenir soundtrack, and those fans will be happy. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

    February 25, 2009: First off I'm not a teenager, far from it but I enjoyed this CD and the movie. While it does seem like it's like High School Musical and Camp Rock, it's still a fun movie that stands out on it's own. The CD is wonderful, the songs are fun and infectious. You'll find yourself hearing the songs in your head and quickly singing along after one listen. The vocals of Nolan Gerard Funk, Tammin Sursok, Victoria Justice and Simon Curtis are amazing. If any of them pursue a singing career then they should have a successful one. So finally if your kids love High School Musical especially Zach and Vanessa, then they should enjoy this CD as well and become fans for Tammin Sursok and Nolan Gerard Funk. I know I did.
