Song of the Steppe features a number of Central Asian recordings. Some of the performers featured here include Popov, Ensemble Sadiyana, Kazak Kard, Musiques de Mongolie, Melodies of the Steppe, and a few others. Most of the performers contribute multiple songs. In particular, Abrigul and Rahmatsa Berãshãyeva's "Dargilik/Lala 'Ik/Falak/Ghazal" stands out as the album's most epic moment, clocking upwards of 11 minutes in duration. A nice collection for anyone curious about Central Asian music, though nothing particularly special. Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
