Something's Gotta Give [Music From the Motion Picture]

Editorial Reviews

Appropriately enough, the December-December romantic comedy Something's Gotta Give's soundtrack features a smooth and sophisticated set of mature love songs that range from vocal jazz to standards to bossa nova. Bookended by two versions of "La Vie en Rose" -- a sassy yet sentimental version by Louis Armstrong and slick yet strangely heartwarming rendition by one of the film's stars, Jack Nicholson -- the collection keeps it light and fun, including a few moments of greatness along the way. The Flamingos' "I Only Have Eyes for You," Astrud Gilberto's "So Nice (Summer Samba)," Charles Trenet's "Que Reste-T'Il de Nos Amour," and Django Reinhardt's "Brazil" are undoubtedly nostalgic, but still sound as freshly romantic as they did when they were freshly minted. Coralie Clément's "Samba de Mon Coeur Qui Bat" and Eartha Kitt's "C'Est Si Bon" are two other highlights; along with tracks by Deon Jackson and Heitor Pereira, they help make Something's Gotta Give a surprisingly refreshing and genuinely romantic soundtrack. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi All Music Guide

September 27, 2010: This is one of the best soundtracks for a film that I've ever heard. It basically is all soft jazz - great background music for entertaining. You will even love Jack Nicholson's renditioon of La Vie En Rose!!! Do yourself and purchase this CD. The movie is also great.

September 27, 2010: This is an incredible soundtrack! Jack Nicholson's rendition of "La Vie en Rose" is a fun surprise as the last track. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because I, too, was disappointed that it doesn't contain the Maroon 5 song "Sunday Morning". However, that song can also be found on another fabulous soundtrack- LOVE ACTUALLY- which I also recommend.
