Editorial Reviews

Sleep Sound in Jesus is exactly what it sounds like -- a gentle, soothing album of Christian lullabies. Michael Card wrote all the songs and performs the vocals with Betsy Hernandez. Ordinarily, having all the songs on an album blend together is a weakness, but for this album, it's a strength. The songs work together to create an atmosphere of calm in the often stormy lives of families with infants. Card uses a light touch, keeping the instruments acoustic and the vocals soft. The album's message of love and belonging is simple and sweet, without the saccharineness of many child-oriented albums. It would be a welcome addition to any family's music collection. January 25, 2008: I remember, some 15 years ago, my mom would play this in my room on her cassette player. My three brothers and I shared the same room together and everytime it was time for bed we would ask for "Sleep Sound in Jesus" to be played. Indeed it is a track of lullabys, which can be a problem because usually by sound #3 you are out and the rest of the songs don't receive a fair listening to. When I was a youngster, I'd be in deep sleep, resting assured that Jesus Christ was there--always, and keeping the usual beasts of my child's imagination away as I lay in the dark under the warmth of my blankets. A great track, but now that I am older, I would just listen to it to replenish the memories of being a babe or to listen to something more relaxing.

December 15, 2006: Someone gave this to me when I had my first baby 13 years ago, and we still love it today! The songs are sweet, and they're perfect to sing baby to sleep.
