About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Bette Midler and Barry Manilow -- contemporary musical legends touched by the personal warmth and grand vocal artistry of the late Rosemary Clooney -- have come together to pay homage to one of the greatest and most beloved American singers. Although he does sing on one of the album’s tracks (“A Slow Boat to China”), Manilow mainly sticks to behind-the-scenes roles as producer and arranger; the spotlight remains on Midler’s still strong, spunky, and affecting vocals. Clooney put her stamp on some endearing and enduring material over the years, and here Midler turns her sights on such signature numbers as the touching ballads “Hey There,” and “Tenderly,” as well as the humorous hits “Come On-a My House” and “Mambo Italiano.” (Linda Ronstadt has fun dueting with Midler on “Sisters”). As heartfelt as it is well executed, this pleasurable tribute reflects well on Midler, Manilow, and the absent lady of the hour, Rosemary Clooney. William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

December 19, 2003: I love Bette Miller but was didn't know if I should buy this. But I gave this CD a try. I'm so happy I did! Barry Manilow's style and Bette's voice will make you fall in love with Rosemary Clooney. Rosemary was not my generations type of singer but now because of this CD I started collecting them. This is perfect music for a dinner party or if you come home and want to feel good! You can even bring it work and it will make you glad your're there. Thanks Bette and Barry, you guys are the greatest! This makes a wonderful gift for anyone.

November 10, 2003: As someone who grew up listening to Rosemary Clooney, this is one tribute I couldn't miss. Bette Midler makes the songs fresh, thanks to her own inimitable style, and Mr. Manilow's deft hand at arrangements and production adds just the right panache. This was a labor of love and it shows.
