Editorial Reviews

Of the promised soundtrack releases from Rhino, Singin' in the Rain is among the most anticipated. Fortunately for the discerning soundtrack collector, it's well worth the wait -- fans of musicals in general should not miss this one. Producers Marilee Bradford and Bradley Flanagan have included all the musical material from the film, it seems, added several outtakes (such as the unused version of "You Are My Lucky Star") and topped that off with supplemental material that includes an alternate version of the main title (in instrumental form; the vocal angles were lost). A number of the tracks are newly mixed to stereo from the original studio angles. A beautiful remastering job and copious liner notes (including an article from writers Betty Comden and Adolph Green) complete the package. Steven McDonald, All Music Guide

February 21, 2009: I spent the day humming a number of the songs on the album after I first listened. The songs are great and memorable and I can visualize the scenes in the movie as I listen. The extra material is a bit distracting. I kept thinking that the CD was starting again. I don't think this adds anything to a great album...but this is a small point!

How can it get any better?!by Anonymous

March 23, 2008: Singing in the Rain is my most favorite older musical, which is saying something, as I have a LOT of older favorite musicals. (And plenty of newer ones also.) Either way, when I first watched this, I was in a real musical slump, and this movie got me laughing and loving my profession once more. Make 'em laugh will have you rolling on the floor, as well as Moses, and many others of these fabulous songs. Enjoy!!
