She Is a Phantom is a set of mournful dirges performed live in concert by Harold Budd. It is a smooth blend of acoustics and electronics with snippets of existential spoken-word poetry. Budd uses some pre-recorded material, but that is the expectation in live music performances of intricate electronic sound designs. Budd's sound design is definitely intricate. The compositions are from Budd's discography, making this a nice introduction to his music. It is also representative of classic minimalism -- electronic and otherwise. Budd's stature in the e-music community has him on a level with stalwarts such as Brian Eno, Robert Rich, Steve Roach, and Robert Fripp. ~ Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide All Music Guide
