Editorial Reviews

As compilations of '60s cocktail lounge music go, this isn't top value, including only 13 cuts (one of which is an unidentified bonus track). If this style is your bag, it's decent enough, with selections from James Bond & His Sextet, the In Group, Jack (Bongo) Burger, Harry Zimmerman, Bob Florence, and exotica star Arthur Lyman. It's neither the cheesiest nor the most gripping stuff this genre has to offer, focusing more on suave elegance than stirring up a heat. Dig, however, the lounge-friendly versions of "The Man with the Golden Gun" and "If I Had a Hammer" by the In Group, whose ranks included none other than Glen Campbell, Leon Russell, and top sessionaires Tommy Tedesco and Earl Palmer.
