About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Scripture Won: The Beginning Of... introduces the five-member rap group Crimewave. Shamus leads the group, both executive producing the album and writing the liner notes. All five members embody the same sort of ideals that characterize most New York rap collectives: rise from the ghetto, struggle to survive, strive for a dream, lose close friends, do some dirt, hustle for money, start a label, and finally, rise to the top of the rap game. Though Crimewave doesn't necessarily accomplish much more than their hardcore rap peers from New York (everyone from Biggie and Jigga to Mobb Deep and the Wu-Tang Clan), they preach these standard ideals with heart. These guys really have struggled to reach the position they're in on Scripture Won, and they tell you throughout the album how they did it and how they plan to continue doing it. Plus, they get some help from producers Psycho Les, Precision, and Alchemist, among others. Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
