In the fine tradition of Naked Gun, Hot Shots! and Loaded Weapon, Keenan Ivory Wayans's Scary Movie is a spoof, this time on the late '90s trend in teen horror flicks. And like the Scream series it so often mocks, Scary Movie features a soundtrack with an eclectic mix of radio-ready artists. For those who like to wash their horror down with a little filth and fury, the disc features the {|Ramones|}' snarling classic "I Wanna Be Sedated" and a track called "Punk Song #2" from Aussie grunge trio Silverchair. And for those who like to sing and bounce along, there's Fountains of Wayne's geek chic pop rally "Too Cool for School" and Save Ferris's ska tinged bouncer, "The Only Way to Be." The album is also a sampler platter of hip-hop: Highlights include the Bloodhound Gang's frat boy shenanigans on "The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope," Tupac Shakur's thug romance on "All About U," soulful grooves from {|Black Eyed Peas|} on "I Want Cha," and a Public Enemy's old school wordplay on "What What." Like the film itself, the Scary Movie soundtrack offers more fun than frights -- and that's precisely the goal. Ganda Suthivarakom, Barnes & Noble
