About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Rumble Doll proves that Patti Scialfa is more than a beautiful redhead with good connections. The 12 songs on the album don't necessarily jump out at the listener on the first listen. Instead, it's more of a slow seduction. Scialfa, who penned all the songs on the album, incorporates a '60s-style vibrato reminiscent of Ronnie Spector; however, the production is low-key compared to '60s girl singers produced by Phil Spector. There's not a bad song in the bunch, and the title track is a gem. Mr. Scialfa is a lucky man to have such a lovely and talented wife. Tim Griggs, All Music Guide

September 12, 2007: I read the reviews and they made the CD sound great. Well, I listened to the samples and was completely turned off by this woman's singing voice. She doesn't have the beautiful voice that Sarah McLachlan has. So, if you want the exact opposite of Sarah McLachlan's voice, buy this, because it's very harsh. Please listen to all of the samples and see for yourself.

December 13, 2004: I bought this a little over a year ago and still play it constantly. I love Patti's writing style, her lyrics are never trite. Each song is graceful and distinctly poetic. Plus the musical settings are a treat for the ears, with all the catchy hooks, nice guitar playing, and sensual rhythms. The best, though, is Patti's voice - soft and sweet and mellow, the ultimate in lovely. Provokes repeated listenings for its great delivery and emotionally true music...in the end, very nearly perfect.
