Just when you thought hillbilly hothead Roy D. Mercer was settling quietly into old age, here he comes again, renewing the War of Northern Aggression a mere 136 years after it formally ended at Appomattox. Venturing above the Mason-Dixon Line, Mercer attacks his unsuspecting Yankee prey with a degree of stealth, ferocity, and ingenuity worthy of General Nathan Bedford Forrest's Critter Company -- his chief weapon being Mr. Bell's telephone, rather than a saber or gun. Pity the poor Boston boat repairman in "Beantown Boater," whom Roy threatens to be on "like a wet fart on satin undies" unless he coughs up $390 for his alleged misdeeds. Woe betide the hapless Manhattan art gallery owner in "Soho Sitchiashun" who deflects Roy's every attempt to get his wife Sharon Gene's spaghetti-based art exhibited, whereupon Roy threatens to "take a hunk outta somebody big enough to clog a drain down there." Let it be noted that northerners are less tolerant of Mercer's antics than his usual southern victims, and the confrontational nature of the repartee sparks Roy to new heights of red-ass creativity, making for a memorable and classic outing.
