A good look into SP's early days...by Anonymous

January 08, 2009: I personally like this EP because to me it is a cross between the 'Back and Forth' cassette (their first real release) and 'Bites' (the first full length album). It's a pretty easy listen and, if you own or have heard their subsequent output, can trace their progression to the later records. It has the SP sound and formula that they have successfully used throughout their career and that made them one of the most loved and respected electronic bands on the planet. Many have tried to imitate them and most have failed. Even SP's primitive, early work, such as this EP, was and is better than most of the imitators. If you can find a used copy of the 'Back and Forth 2' cd (which is the cd version of the aforementioned cassette complete with bonus tracks, and sadly currently out-of-print), you can get an even better look into what SP were like in the earliest of days when it was just Ogre and Cevin Key.
