About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The opening blast of saxophone on Read My Mind's opening cut, "Everything You Want," and its Dire Straits-style atmosphere tell you that Reba (no last name needed) is no ordinary country artist. She continues her adventurous ways throughout the album, delving into a Chicago blues swagger on "Why Haven't I Heard From You" and insightful folk-pop on "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter." Then there's the rockabilly kick of "I Won't Stand in Line," which shifts into overdrive with a smoking gospel chorus. But the real strength of Read My Mind is in its ballads. The title tune is a masterful statement of longing. "She Thinks His Name Was John" is strong stuff -- the tragic tale of a one-night stand that leaves the song's narrator HIV-positive. Being a Reba record, there's heartbreak in "I Wish that I Could Tell You" and obsessive love in "Till You Love Me," and few singers can convey those feelings better than Reba. More importantly, few country artists are willing to take similar emotional chances, which is why Reba is still queen. Bob Cannon, Barnes & Noble

March 12, 2005: I've been a HUGE Reba fan ever practically since birth, and she's a huge inspiration to my singing. Read My Mind is a rare CD for me that I can just put on and listen to....no skippin around LOL. Every song on here is a aboslute hit, Reba's at her best. My personal favorites are 'Why Haven't I Heard From You' (which I have sentimental attachment to since that's the first song I ever remember hearing!), 'Till You Love Me', 'I Won't Stand In Line' & 'She Thinks His Name Was John'. Reba is a true musical genius, if there were more like her the music world'd be a much better place. Keep it up girl!

February 15, 2002: The song ''She Thinks His Name Was John'' is reason enough to buy this CD. HIV/AIDS is not a subject you expect country singers to address. Not only is it an incredible song, it also has an important message.I admire someone of Reba's stature in the country music world for singing this song.
