About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Back in the pre-grunge days, when most metal bands were either thrashers or glammers, Prong offered an alternative, as they stirred elements of industrial and hardcore into their metallic mixture. And as evidenced by such latter-day releases as 2007's Power of the Damager, Tommy Victor and his wrecking crew can still inflict some serious sonic damage. On their 2009 remix album, Power of the Damn Mixxxer, you get all of the tracks from their aforementioned 2007 set in regurgitated form, as done by members of other metal acts. And the remixes are just as brutal as the originals, especially "Worst of It" as remixed by J.S. Clayden of Pitchshifter and "Power of the Damager" by Brian Harrah and Roman Marisak of Professional Murder Music. Also included are a few surprises, such as the two versions that are included of "The Banishment" -- one as a beat-heavy take by Rob Caggiano of Anthrax, and a dancelike version by Clayton Worbeck of the Revolting Cocks.
