About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Playlist: The Very Best of Teddy Pendergrass covers TP's career through 1981's It's Time for Love. In addition to including his major turn with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, "If You Don't Love Me by Now," there's a baker's dozen of select songs from his solo work, including '70s soul classics like "Close the Door," "I Don't Love You Anymore," "Turn Off the Lights," "Love TKO," and "Can't We Try" -- all of which peaked within the Top Ten of Billboard's Black Singles chart. This doesn't (and couldn't possibly) contain all the good material from the four studio albums it covers, but as far as introductions to Pendergrass go, you could do far worse. If you want to dig a little deeper, The Right Stuff's two-disc Anthology is the place to go. Andy Kellman, All Music Guide

September 16, 2009: Make-out music. For the bedroom prone. I have enjoyed these songs on the old fashioned 33 1/2 RPMs before CDs were around when I was in my 20's (now 47). Teddy is one of the kings when it comes to this kind of stuff. It's sexy as the day is long, what you would play when you're already in the mood. Couldn't think of a way it could be done any better. 5 stars on this CD which highights his most well known. I have not suggested any other CDs as they tend to be repeats of what is already on this one. For the passionate romantic.
