About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Brenda Russell, the Grammy-nominated singer and composer, continues to demonstrate why she is so well-respected. Eleven new classic songs form her latest release Paris Rain, including personal treasures such as "Expect a Miracle," which chronicles the heartache of love but encourages one to continue despite the pain, the radio hit "Catch On," and "You Can't Hide Your Heart From Me." She sings with emotional depth realized from personal experiences and plays straight from the heart with special guests Carl Anderson, Everette Harp, Dave Koz, Greg Phillinganes, Sheila E, Kirk Whalum, along with Russell Ferrante and Jimmy Haslip of the The Yellowjackets. Russell wrote all of the songs except "Heart From Me," which was co-written with James Slater. The compositional integrity, special guests, and great singing make this album worth the wait from one of the world's best smooth jazz performers. Paula Edelstein, All Music Guide

January 17, 2004: The rare experience of a CD that has a complete set of quality songs. This goes on my five disc turn table for Sunday mornings reading the paper. Not that this is Muzac. But it has the soothing quality and relaxed feel of a spring day with the windows open and the curtains flowing, the smell of wild flowers, and the person you love close by. It's hard for music to touch all your senses, but this one did for me, thanks Brenda.

July 15, 2000: It's been like 7 or 8 years since Brenda's last album, and Paris Rain is worth the wait! Incredible music on the new Hidden Beach label. ''Catch On'' is the kind of song you hear once and can't stop singing.
