About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Green River Ordinance's family-friendly anthems take influence from the Fray, Matchbox Twenty, and other torchbearers of suburban pop/rock, resulting in a sound that's both appealing and commonplace. To the band's credit, Out of My Hands is nothing if not a marketable album; the songwriting is singularly focused on replicating the sounds of Top 40 radio, and the record's three producers claim Maroon 5, Sister Hazel, and Gavin DeGraw as previous clients. Accordingly, every song here sounds geared for radio playback and TV placement, from the nostalgic chimes of "Goodbye L.A." to the finger-plucked arpeggios of "Endlessly." Josh Jenkins sports a fine voice -- not entirely distinguishable from the impassioned howl of Augustana's Dan Layus or the Fray's Isaac Slade, perhaps, but pleasant nevertheless -- and his bandmates claim songwriting credits on every track, with only four songs featuring contributions from outside collaborators. While other artists rely on the veteran expertise of Ryan Tedder or the Matrix to sound this slick, Out of My Hands manages to keep the talent in-house, and the band's ability to recycle its influences into familiar, palatable music will likely result in some degree of chart-climbing success. Still, it's hard to view this as anything other than a tribute album to the aforementioned bands, whose style Green River Ordinance easily emulates but rarely transcends. October 17, 2009: These guys are great. Some great lyrics and incredible songs. Saw them out in Troy, NY last week and they were simply great. I got to meet them all and buy their cd. This is definitely worth checking out. Tight harmonies, and just simply great writing. I would love to see them again live. They did an acoustic version of "On Your Own," it was simply amazing. Hoping they'll release that on a cd or have it as a single at least. But if you're looking for something new to listen to, really go on iTunes, or stop into your local B&N and pick this one up. It's definitely well worth it, and I'm hoping that these guys are going to become more and more popular. Because simply put, they are amazing.

April 11, 2009: February 24th, 2009 marks the date of a very important birth. The birth of Green River Ordinance's new album "Out of My Hands". Many of you may ask, who is this band? Why should I care? Well friends...let me say this. This band is astoundingly good. Maybe not la creme de la creme as so many people have suggested before me but they pack enough punch for all of us to get blown away. The group's "baby" as they like to call it, debuted at #4 on the Alternative charts on iTunes. Well deserved boys, well deserved. GRO consists of 5 guys from Ft. Worth, Texas with mucho talent. Josh Jenkins: Lead singer/Acoustic Guitar, Joshua Wilkerson: Backup vocals/Electric Guitar, Geoff Ice: Backup vocals/Bass, Jamey Ice: Electric guitar, & Denton Hunker: Drums. This album is a great disc to put on if you want to get up and shake ur bon bon. Trust me, I've done it...several times. Its packed with high energy tunes (Sleep It Off & Outside) but also has a nice mellow side for those of us lovesick puppies out there (Endlessly). Their harmonies are tight, musicianship in sync. Green River Ordinance is on the right track and keep me begging for more. Their album "Out of My Hands" is available everywhere right now so either download it on iTunes (7.99) or hit up one of your local media stores. Do yourself a favor and check this album and band out. They shall not disappoint.
