Nick Jr. favorite Oswald the Octopus gets an album of his own, Pop Goes the Octopus. Unlike many Nickolodeon shows, Oswald's music is quietly playful and almost contemplative, focusing on brass, piano, and acoustic guitar instead of the rock and hip-hop arrangements used by the network's series for older children. The result is an album that's perfect for playtime and right up until bedtime -- songs like the lounge-inspired "Sammy Starfish Theme" and "Here She Is (aka Pet Show)" are lively without being grating, while "Roller Skating" and "The Perfect Cloud Collection" are restful without being boring. "What to Collect," "Down in the Dump," and "Tutti Frutti Pie" add some singalong fun and the liner notes include a make-it-yourself flipbook of Oswald and Henry the Penguin dancing, both of which make Oswald: Pop Goes the Octopus an even more delightful experience.
