A seasonal follow-up to their resoundingly successful English Ladymass is this unparalleled collection of medieval carols and motets. Anonymous 4 chose from a 13th century antiphoner works illuminating all aspects of the Christmas story and its many accompanying legends. The haunting lines of Gregorian plainchant curve and wind their simple melodies and lead us to the sublime object of this sacred music. The superb voices of these four women interchange melodic fragments and create an ethereal weaving of sounds and dynamics... ~ MusD, All Music Guide All Music Guide

February 05, 2004: I have 9 of their CD's . This one is the best . Four exquisite voices , painstaking research , facinating liner notes , all of their music has this in common . What sets this apart is the clairity of the recording . Each of these ladies have amazing voices that come alive with a good set of speakers . All of the reverberations and harmonics are there , and in phase . Turn it up and listen to the crispness of each voice on every note . This is one of my favorite CD's of all time .

November 07, 2000: I had never heard Medeival Christmas Music before and I am so happy that the Anonymous 4 have taken the time and effort to record and preserve some of that music for all future generations. This music has a far different Christmas sound than what we have known for past few hundred years and it is much more perfect for Christian Religious observances of the Christmas Season. I wholeheartedly recommend this album to anyone who loves the Gregorian style of music and the Christmas Season.
